The Coupon Craziness- Target Haul

Hello ladies and gents. Sorry it's been a while between posts, but as you can see, I have been a busy little bee clipping, organizing and researching some awesome deals. Keep reading if you'd like details on how I am saving all this money. I promise it's easy and you can do it too!

SO....I bet you're wondering if I have totally lost my mind. It's possible. If I ever had one to begin with that is. I digress....

As you can see in the pic above, I made a big trip to Target.

The list of items includes:
8 Loreal Infallable Lipsticks *clearance*
2 Johnson and Johnson Travel First Aid kits
2 bottles Jack Daniels BBQ sauce (YUM)
4 bottles Wishbone dressing
1 box Splenda Essentials
1 box Excedrine *clearance*
2 Glade Sense and Spray *clearance*
1 trial size Cascade dishwasher tabs
2 boxes Post Shredded Mini Wheats
3 bags Iams cat food
26 Renuzit Adjustables air fresheners
2 Garnier moisturizers
2 Dove Shampoos
2 Dove Conditioning oils
4 boxes Kraft Mac and Cheese
4 Dove Women's Deodorant
4 Dove Men's Deodorant
2 jars Skippy Peanut Butter
5 cans Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup
4 travel size Men's Degree Deodorant
1 Gillette Pro Fusion Razor *purchased from CVS*
2 bottles Soft Scrub bathroom spray cleaner

Whew. So what did I pay for all this stuff? $65.00 before tax. I saved $99.84 (This savings is calculated off of the SALE prices. If you are counting regular price, its probably closer to $150!)

That is not counting the two $5 Target gift cards I got for buying the deodorant (for next purchase), $9 in cat food coupons (from buying the Iams cat food), $5.00 gas giftcard (for buying the mini wheats- you need four codes form the boxes to send in for it, I already had two boxes at home) and a $2.00 coupon for toilet paper I got that printed at the register. That means I saved an additional $22.00 from this transaction.

Some highlights would be that I got all the men's deodorant totally free. The L'oreal lipsticks were $2.23 a piece on clearance...and I had a 2 dollar off coupon for each one. Yup, they were 23 cents a piece. I got several colors.

Also of note, the Gillette razor retails for $12.99 at CVS. I had a raincheck from when they were on sale for $9.99 plus you get $5.00 in Extra Care Bucks (they were sold out of course). So it was $4.99. Then I had a $4.00 off coupon. So that razor cost me 99 cents. :)

I have to say, I am quite pleased with the deals I got.

My goal is to have a stockpile of food, toiletries and cleaning supplies to last us 3-6 months. In this economy, you can't be too careful. If one of us lost our jobs, we would be in huge financial trouble. Since we have fixed expenses every month (car payments, insurance, rent, etc) the one place we can save is on groceries, cleaning supplies, toiletries and whatnot. We just want to be prepared! That and even if there is no crisis, it just means we don't run out of items, and don't have to buy them at full price, we can get them on sale or clearance, plus coupons and stock up when they are really cheap or free.

I think we are set on air fresheners for a LONG time...

  1. LOL how many air fresheners do you need? Seriously, I'm impressed. I want to start doing a little better with my coupons, but I'm not even going to think about it until the kids are in school and I can go to the grocery store ALONE.

Hey, how goes the diet thing? Did you guys stick with it? I haven't had a chance to go back and read and see if you posted anything else about it.

    :)
